About the PSC
The Professional Standards Committee (PSC) is the body established by INTOSAI for leading its activities in standard setting. As one of the four INTOSAI goal chairs, it leads the efforts to provide relevant, robust and clear professional standards and guidance to the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs). Within the INTOSAI, the PSC’s work is important to add credibility to the individual auditor and the resulting audit reports. The Committee´s specialized working bodies follow and discuss new developments and practices in government auditing, leveraging the experience of professionals from Supreme Audit Institutions around the world.
The PSC has four strategic objectives, which are defined in its Terms of Reference:
- Continue developing the INTOSAI Framework of Professional Pronouncements (IFPP) as principles-based.
- Assure the consistency, professionalism, quality and relevance of the IFPP.
- Draft and present IFPP material in accessible and meaningful way.
- Advocate for, support and monitor the implementation of the IFPP by SAIs. Identify opportunities for improvement.
The PSC has four subcommittees – CAS, PAS, FAAS and ICS. They act as centers of expertise in matters relating to the setting and application of standards in their respective areas of responsibility
